NRDF was invited to participate in 19 – 21 February REDD+ Readiness information sessions in Honiara. Organised and funded by the UNREDD Solomon Islands’ program, the week comprised of three meetings. The Solomon Islands REDD+ Taskforce meeting was opened by Permanent Secretary (Acting) for the Ministry of Environment, Mr Frank Wickham.
On 21 February, the Second Solomon Islands UNREDD Programme Executive Board Meeting was held. The meeting reviewed 2012 program progress and approved the 2013 UNREDD work plan.
Assisting the work of the Programme Management Unit and providing government leadership within the Technical Working Groups, are the: Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology, and Ministry of Forestry and Research.
NRDF’s Stephen Suti was elected as co-chair of the Safeguard and Stakeholder Engagement Taskforce Committee, which safeguards the implementation of REDD+ Readiness.
