Three new FSC members enter NRDF’s certification programme
From 15 to 19 August a Sustainable Management & FSC certification workshop was conducted in Malaita Province, resulting in three new tribal groups, Harisiharai, Aenaura Wai-Hau and Hahorarumu Uru tribal communities, signing an agreement to enter the NRDF FSC certification programme. The workshop was a follow-up training on the work done last year by NRDF and the Secretariat of the South Pacific Community (SPC) within the tribal communities. The three tribes together will conserve and manage an area of about 1000 hectare of unlogged forest. The plan is to support these groups further in their efforts to conserve and manage their forest resources. This will be done in collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry in Honiara.
